Regional Institute of Ophthalmology, M.D. Eye Hospital Allahabad is one of the pioneer institute providing eye care services to patients belonging to eastern U.P. and adjoining parts of other states. Since departments of ophthalmology, M.L.N. Medical College is also established here, teaching of M.B.B.S., D.O.M.S. and M.S. is also imparted here. The institute has also been nominated as Eye Care Training Center by Central Government, thus involved in various training activities pertaining to ophthalmology to medical officers ,paramedical Ophthalmic assistants and nursing staff .
Apart from this,Ophthalmologists from all over the country are being trained here. In various specialty.
In ophthalmology such as Phacoemulsification , S.I.C.S., Glaucoma, Medical Retina and Paediatric ophthalmology. Central ophthalmic mobile unit, established in the institute is engaged in performing eye relief camps and various school health programme for Control of Blindness.
